ELECTION DAY
Election Day was Monday, October 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Polling station was at the Town Office Council Chambers located at 321 - 2nd Street South.
Advance Poll
Due to the extension of the nomination process for six days in order to receive the required number of nomination packages required to fill the positions, there will be no Advance Poll for the 2017 Municipal Election.
Voter Eligibility Identification Requirements
Voter Identification is required by all voters. Each voter must produce one piece of identification that establishes both the elector's name and current address. For more information please click this link Voter Eligibility Identification requirements.
You must be a Canadian Citizen and have been a resident of Alberta for at least six (6) months immediately preceding Election Day. Your place of residence must be in the Town of Vulcan on Election Day in order to vote for Councillors.

Nomination Day - September 18, 2017 - from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Vulcan Town Office
Advance Vote Day - TBA
Election Day - October 16, 2017
The Town of Vulcan residents will elect a Mayor and six Councillors to serve a four year term.

In accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act, beginning January 1, 2014, all candidates intending to run in the upcoming 2017 Municipal Election are required to register with the municipality prior to accepting campaign contributions.
If you are thinking about running as a candidate in the upcoming 2017 Municipal Election, prior to accepting campaign contributions, you must file a Notice of Intent to become a Candidate for Municipal Office and submit it to the Town Office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The form may also be dropped off at the Vulcan Town Office at 321 - 2 Street South.
Qualifications for a Candidate
A person may be nominated as a candidate in the Town of Vulcan's Municipal Election, if on Nomination Day the person is;
- 18 years of age or older;
- A Canadian Citizen
- A resident of the Town of Vulcan for the six (6) consecutive months immediately preceding Nomination Day (a resident
since March 18, 2017); and
- Not otherwise ineligible or disqualified.
Section 22-24 of the Local Authorities Election Act stipulate under what circumstances a candidate is NOT eligible for nomination. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that they are not in violation of any condition of eligibility.
